What ?? Parallel Cinema ?? And Its downfall.


After a long struggle India got freedom from British in the year 1947, 15 Aug. It was the time when Indian Cinema was going through a new beginning . This was the key time when movies was made on the Social  and Political issues. Country was going through a change.people wants changes, youth were more interested in politics and revolutionary motions. At that time Indian movies was based more on country , patriotism, social issues, regionalism. This was the time when we got most critically acclaimed movies , Directors, Actors and Actress. Directors like Satayjeet Roy, Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy and others . shown the India of that time on silver screen .
The era of Parallel cinema was started  .
What is parallel cinema?  .
Parallel cinema was started in west  in the year 1950. It was inspired by the Italian neorealism which means movie focus on poor working class.Style of parallel cinema was totally different from mainstream cinema i.e fighting scene , love songs. They focused the grass root reality. Even the clothes of actors are kept very simple in these cinema. No more makeup .The region of the parallel cinema comes in existence is to fix the social issues. Some of the examples of Parallel Cinema are
Garam Hawa  (1973), Do Bigha Zameen (1953), Ankur (1974), and many others.

Parallel Cinema started shaping after 1940 by Satyajit Roy, Bimal Roy, Tapan Anand, Guru Dutt ,V santaram. Shyam Benagal These cinema are the bank study of contemporary Indian Society. talking about Satyajit Ray then his famous works are Pother Panchali 1955, Aprajito 1956 , world of Apu 1959. Guru Dutts pyaasa was mentioned in TIMES magazine All Times 100 best movies.
Parallel cinema started declining and the reasons can be that National Film Development Coperation Of India did not look seriously over it  and the mainstream exhibition system did not pick these films, which were based on social issues . And the mind set of the audience Film means Entertainment   and Entertainment only.
